Blue Wave Adventures DOLPHIN WATCH
.....at their best early in the day. Along the coast winds
typically pick up in the afternoon making it more difficult to spot
dolphins. With that said, some of the best dolphin watches have been
during less than perfect conditions.
Tours depart at 7:30, 9:30, 11:30 and some times 1:30, depending
on sea conditions. Check in is a half hour before departure. Once
you have checked in at the marina, we will gather everyone together
at the Tiki Hut and board the OSPREY. On board you will receive
a short safety briefing. Now the fun begins. Once we clear the marina
area we step up the pace and head for the ocean. It takes about
ten minutes to navigate through the inlet and exit the jetties.
That's where the search for our dolphin friends and other sea life
begins.
One of our missions at Blue Wave Adventures is to present an honest
representation of what dolphin watching is all about. The main thing
to keep in mind is that these are WILD free ranging animals. Our
wild dolphin friends do what they want, when they want. Sometimes
they are close by, other times we have to search for them and occasionally
they are no where to be found. We have an overall contact rate of
85%. This is why we don't use faked photos or make unrealistic promises.
We have worked with whales and dolphins for over fifteen years and
have learned that it is more of and art than a science when it comes
to finding dolphins.
When we find the dolphins, we approach slowly and do not drive up
on top of them. We let the dolphins get comfortable with our presence
and approach us if they desire. If conditions permit we will drop
a microphone in the water to see if they are vocalizing. The crew
will discuss many topics about dolphin life and behavior. You will
be amazed at all the things you will learn about these amazing creatures
and the ocean they inhabit.
If you are looking for an experience that your whole group can
enjoy together, then we ask that you let us help you create a lasting
memory!
